Nowifi

I bought a wifi card to my 5 year old HP pavilion I put the card in a 16x slot. When I booted up windows the card didn't show up. I tried installing the drivers but the drivers installer told me to put in my network card in my system. My thought is that the pci slott can be software locked by hp. Please help me ive got online school on thursday

I bought a asus PCE-AC56 i dont have a laptop its a prebuilt desktop from the  HP pavilion power 580-000 series. Thank you for trying to help me, im really thankful

Perhaps try Pcie x1 slot instead of x16 if the motherboard has one

Hi sorry for the mistake with laptop I saw HP Pavilion and assumed it was one. Anyway as @CustomEnchants mentioned you should try to inserting the card to PCIe x1 slot this diagram should be useful. If that doesnt work then if I found correct diagram of the MB you can see that there is dedicated m.2 WLAN slot (key A) where you can insert wireless card like this one https://www.amazon.se/WISE-TIGER-AX210NGW-expanderar-nätverksadapter/dp/B08NSSJNV1/ref=sr_1_4?crid=1JNXGZ06ERLHW&keywords=wifi+card+m.2+A&qid=1642590564&sprefix=wifi+card+m.2+a%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-4  (if you go this route you will need to purchase antennas if they are not build in your case

Constantly amazes me how many people with English as a second language apologise for their "bad" English, which is almost always better than your average American.
