I need some help figuring out whats wrong with this GPU, I tried using DDU for the cleanest possible driver install, but whenever i try running something intensive, the entire system will reboot shortly after.

I don't think the PSU is the issue since it does the same thing in a known good PSU.

Longer video, added it for slightly better context.

Are you running any overclocks?

What are the temperatures?

we need your full hardware speccs.

from mobo to Ram to PSU  as well as which rx560

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite,  Ryzen 9 3900x, Dark Rock Pro 4, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix  RGB 3600 MHz CL16 RAM, RTX 3080 TI FE Watercooled, 6 Case Fans,  Fractal Design Meshify S2

My PSU is a Thermaltake Smart 600W Power supply
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 6.0)
And the RX 560 in question is an XFX Single Fan 2GB Variant.
I'm using a 16GB-(4x4) kit of DDR3-1600 ADATA ram with an AMD FX-6300.

Specified parts better and added links to their hardware specifications.

is the problem new? how old is your system? have you installed a driver for your gpu?

what you could do is stress test single components. Furmark for GPU, prime95 for CPU and RAM

both of them stress test your system and it could kill your hardware. so be warned, at least Furmark says so, I never ever killed my hardware and I use it for stress testing. but if your hardware is full of dust and no fresh air comes in, it might be a problem.

why do we want to stress test single components? we don't know if your CPU RAM or GPU is the problem.

what else you should do?

we need to know temperature. Furmark has a build in so you should get HWMonitor for your CPU temps.

Furmark just press GPU stress test but be warned, for about 20 to 30 minits

image.thumb.png.4dd96cd160bf99d54538cedb84c8d650.png

just press ok after starting Prime95 the number 24 (blue) is another number while you test it, got 24 threads you will have less.

btw for closing the programm you have to close it at your right bottom corner on the icon. just pressing x will minimize it.

HWMonitor

image.png.cfae42fc82564b9659b9e9a07f6ed8b8.png

you could do me a favour and while testing RAM and CPU via Prime95 for around about 20 to 30  min take a picture of like that

use for that the keys combination win + shift + s

shift is the one you use to WrItE big letters while holding it down.

what temps we are looking for GPU +90 degrees Celsius

CPU  Max. Operating Temperature (Tjmax) 70.5°C way less than I thought.

good hunt

I don't think the RAM or CPU are to blame, I've been playing most games with a GTX 760 with this
I used the latest RX 560 drivers and between swapping GPUs I used DDU.
This has been the issue with the RX 560 for about a week now.
I built this system around 3 years ago, didn't have a lot of money at the time and was planning on upgrading in 2020 until those plans went south.

you might be right, but I just want to be sure. that is why you should test everything

I should also note that I tested the same GPU in another PC (specs listed below) with similar if not exact results.
Intel Xeon E5-1620 0
x4 4GB Sticks of Samsung DDR3-1600 RAM
675W Dell Workstation PSU (80 Plus Silver)

so we could pretty much say it is your GPU,

now we just have to figure out if it is kinda like dead, or it "just" has a heating problem. if it is a heating problem you could clean it and buy some thermal paste and pads and exchange them.

Furmark it is 😄

I checked the temps during a 3DMark benchmark, nothing looked to be overheating and each time it crashed it left Event ID 41 in the event viewer.
It also left an error code

0x8000400000000002

Event ID 41 is oh sorry, system had to restart don't know why but it had to. something like in that range.

do you got a celsius number for me?

CPU kept under 65 during benchmarks, GPU kept under 60.

that is good.

something you could do if you are sure that it is your GPU, you could bake it, you could finally destroy it by doing it or give it a few more months.

That could work, for a while anyway.

Finally, a good use for the toaster oven.

Should probably try replacing the VRAM before that though.

So thought about this for a while, and I think the VRAM isn't the issue, it could potentially be a BIOS issue despite the fact the card ran games fine.
