I wrote a review, so here's the gist: iffy base, high detail, great soundstage, ultra comfortable, and look slick. The base is good enough, but if you need that impact, you might want some closed back headphones. I like dubstep, so it's good enough, but not amazingly tight or prevalent.

But better than the HD 518s

 

Thats not necessarily true, they're nearly all the same, they just get a bit better soundstage and weaker base as you go up in model numbers. The materials get a bit better as you go up, but you'll be fine. Depending on your taste you might like the 518's more than the 598's.

They have a very flat and natural sound stage. They are VERY open and you can easily hear the environment around you. I really like the sound for the types of music that I listen to. However if you listen to a lot of bassy music, they might be a bit lacking in the bass department for you. 

 

They are also SUPER comfortable once you get them broken in!
