How is the experience on the Chromecast with google tv with steam link or AMD link game streaming? Is it worth it?

So I need an Android TV device where I will use an IPTV app for movies and live tv (I was using a roku but they'll soon ban private apps as well as some game streaming with the steam link or AMD link. The Chromecast with google tv looks like a good, affordable option and I was wondering if any of you know more about it. How is the gaming experience, any lags or stutters? And before you say buy a shield tv for gaming, unfortunately, it's out of my budget and I need a USB port which is only on the pro. I also considered buying the Chromecast for tv and building a steam link machine with a raspberry pi 4 which comes out to a little bit more than a Chromecast with the hub for the missing ports.
