Upgrade EVGA 2080TI FTW 3 to MSI Ventus 3080?

StealthArsenal

Good Afternoon all,

I haven't been paying too much attention to gpus during the shortage and such, but I have watched the usual suspects with their reviews and things of that sort.  So I know in the general sense the 3080 is an upgrade over the 2080TI.  Does the upgrade make sense considering the make and model.  I typically don't leave EVGA.  I ask this because I have been selected in the Newegg shuffle for the 10gb version of the MSI Ventus and am considering it and then selling my 2080TI.  I am not worried about 4000 series as we will be in the same boat.  I play at 1440, 34" ultra wide and/or 27" at 144/165 hz.  I mix between fps and rpg.  Currently playing a lot of Halo on PC and topping out around 85 FPS.

Thanks

Keep it and wait for 4000 series, worst case is 4000 series drops the prices of the 3000 series

I would buy it as long it's a reasonable price.  I bought my EVGA 3080 FTW3 soon after launch and sold my 2080TI to a friend for $400. (they were selling around $500 at the time.)

You can probably make most of you money back if you sell the 2080TI.

Its $1394 with a gen 4 nvme.  I can probably make a good chuck back on the 2080TI.  Like I said with 4000 series, it's kind of irrelevant as we will be dealing with the same issues when that launches.  I think we are in the era of the 3000 will stay where they are and 4000 will be more expensive.  Never heard of companies dropping prices when they can get whatever they price it at.

For me, the performance gap is too small to be worth the hassle. I'd wait for next get, despite the probable continued shortage. At least then, the performance gap should theoretically increase.
