You sure it's not Arma 3 itself?

Have you tried other games?

Also, disconnection errors most likely won't be caused by Crossfire.

Are you overclocking? If so, run at stock and see if the problem persists.

easiest way I tell people do begin troubleshooting complex things

1) create new HDD partition

2) Install windows on said partiton

3) create completely functional environment with drivers one or two versions behind to eliminate more variables (effective temporary clean reinstall)

4) If it works, software conflict, if it doesn't, hardware level issue.

Error: 410

Hope this doesnt have to happen...

do the gpu's work well alone, or does this only happen when you do crossfire.

They work the same alone

do you have any other gpus laying around, if yes test it to see if all your other component are working well.

Previously, when you had HD6870's in your system, what driver were you on? Then when you'd swapped out the cards for the R8 280X, what driver did you install? Reason why I as is because with AMD recent drivers (Cat 13.12 onwards), a clean install is recommended. Run the uninstaller via Windows Control panel -> Uninstall a program. Upon reboot, run either DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) or Driver Sweeper to clean out your system of whatever remnant of the previous driver, and reboot. Now, you can install the latest driver (either 14.3 or 14.4) and perform a clean install.

Crashing issues like yours may not necessarily be caused by the GPU's, it could be the RAM at fault.....or perhaps caused by driver. You can troubleshoot by leaving only one stick of RAM and seeing if the games run. If it runs on RAM 'A', swap it for RAM 'B' and so forth. Issues like yours can be quite a pain to resolve.
