Swapping RAM

I got a dell ispiron15r and i wanted to upgrade the ram on it. According to specifications i found online it was capable of 2 sticks 4gb each and with speed up to 1066mhz. It had 2 samsung dimms at 2gb and 533mhz which i swaped for 2 G.Skill Ripjaws 4GB DDR3-1600MHz. according to what i read the laptop should have just run them at a lower speed because of the cpu not being able to run them at their own frequency. When i tried to put them in, it just boot looped like 30 times before i decided that its not going to fix itself so just put the old ram in and it works like before. The cpu it has is an intel i3 370M.
