Starlink and load balancing / policy based routing

Hello, I have two connections. One is wired and one is Starlink, I want to use my edge router X  to do some sort of load balancing / policy base routing so that we get low ping based tasks such as gaming, facebook or voip to go through the lower latency wired connection and everything else goes though Starlink, such as streaming, downloading large files etc.

 

Is this possible and does anyone know how I can set something like this up?

You can route traffic based upon it's port/protocol/source/destination, BUT if you don't know what port/protocol/destination ip address your services use, this is not simple task.

 

Not to mention this is not gonna happen if you don't have an atleast recent OpenWRT/DDWRT/Tomato supported/based router.

 

You really should consider MAC ID/LAN IP based routing instead of taking a project of that size.

Typically if you are gaming you have one connection that's consistently better than the other.

 

I would just change my gateway manually if I'm gaming. Or write a net sh script to do it.
