I am building a new server. I already have a NAS, and it's been OK (FreeNAS, so trouble with RAID cards and etc) however the NAS itself is nowhere near powerful enough. I never did manage to set it up online, and now I am hoping my new far more powerful server can do that instead.

I would like to run Linux, and network folder/file sharing is a must. However, I also would like to be able to access it from elsewhere, as I have two elsewheres and I am sick of transporting home DATA using my phone as a USB stick. I also forget a lot, and so my music libraries are out of whack. Which drives me nuts, given how much I love music.

Can someone suggest a cloud app for Linux please? one that will also allow me to share files with my friends.

Cheers !

Nextcloud should do the job.

Nextcloud is excellent software. If you don't want to run it on FreeBSD you can just use Ubuntu Server. (Ubuntu will support ZFS also in recent versions)
