Hey guys, so as far as VR systems go I’ve kinda had my head in the sand. My wife, 6 yr old, and myself have tried an Oculus for the first time at a friend’s on New Years and a consensus was formed that it needs to be looked into. But I don’t want to just jump on the Oculus band wagon just because. Can someone point me to a good guide or better yet a YouTuber who’s on par with LTT for trustworthyness regarding tech systems/info that would be helpful for research? Thank you in advance!

Unfortunately I don’t have any guides that I can point you to on hand but oculus in most areas is the best right now. Honestly I wish they weren’t because of them being owned by Facebook(now Meta) and having to deal with all that but their headsets are good. If you are looking for something that you don’t need to connect to a gaming PC and that you don’t need to run a bunch of sensors for the Oculus Quest 2 is in my opinion your best option. LTT has done a video on the Quest 2 I believe or if they did not I know they definitely did one in the original Quest and they didn’t change all that much. Otherwise if you would like to stay away from Oculus and don’t mind running cables for sensors and connecting to a gaming PC then HTC is still a great option. Hope this helps.

If you're looking for a vr YouTuber that can help you, then ThrillSeeker or Virtual Reality Oasis are some of the best. I personally have a Quest 1 and absolutely love it, no Facebook account is required to use it, unlike the Quest 2, it has Oculus Link and works well with SteamVr, and you can also wirelessly stream PCVR using Air Link or ALVR. It also has inside-out tracking (meaning that no wall mounted trackers are needed) which is very stable. If you want something a bit more pro, the Valve Index is hands-down the best PCVR headset on the market for consumers. It has a high-res display, great fov, and great refresh rate. The only problems are that it needs wall mounted trackers, it needs a kind of beefy computer, and it always needs to be tethered to a pc.
