Hi Guys,

With my upcoming build, I'm planning on building with Asus Formula Vi (My mind is set on that :P )

So anyway i was wondering, is that Motherboard being Discontinued soon? The reason I say is because where I normally get my computer parts is a store called PC Case Gear here in Australia, and i checked about 6 days, lets just say a week and that Mobo was available there and now they don't even have that motherboard on their website and then I checked on NewEgg and they have raised the price of the Mother board so Can some one please help me and tell me if it's being discontinued or whatever ?

Oh and I even checked on PC Part Picker and they didn't have it too  :(

Kind Regards

Utkarsh Anand

It won't be discontinued any time soon man, that board was fairly late to the Haswell party as it was. You can bet on it being sold for at least the rest of the year.

I'm planning to build by June-Julyish, so hopefully it should still be around ?

Yeah man, it'll be around until the next set of CPUs, and them some. It isn't going anywhere any time soon :)

The Hero has indeed been discontinued, i went to order one from Pccg and they told me it's been killed off.

although your points of retail may not carry the items, you might want to contact

ASUS directly as i doubt discontinuing their popular ROG boards at such an early

stage is not their intentions. more than likely the retailers outlet may not have

supply.

yes at one-time the ROG Formula was out-of-stock in many popular locations,

but once the new arrivals showed-up, many retailers took down the OOS signs.

There are usually ROG boards for sale even a couple of months after the switch to newer platform so I don't think that there will be a shortage on this board in particular anytime soon, especially considering that it is one of their best selling models when it comes down to Z87.

I don't want it to be true, just saying what they told me. They went to order more Heros in and Asus said they are being discontinued and it wasn't possible to order anymore.  I hope they're incorrect.

i doubt such a young part number to already have EOL (End-of-Life). i'd contact ASUS directly

for possibly another source. way to competitive board to the UD4 and MPower to stop production.

I'll do a bit more investigation, seems silly that Asus would discontinue a popular board. I know i'm not the only one that can't afford a Maximus VI Extreme.

ive got the Hero, because the Formula and Extreme are too over-the-top in

pricing and has enough connectivity for what i need it for.

might look into the giggy UD4 or the  MSI GD65 Gaming. might have better

pricing and availability.

Yeah, i was looking at the MSI and then the thought of a white and yellow build popped into my head after not being able to get the Hero...

Just a small update, I tweet Asus North America asking about the Hero, this was their response...

We can't confirm that it will be discontinued at the moment

Ominous response to say the least.

Just curious, did you swap out the motherboard block or leave the aluminium one in there?

Don't know much about custom loops (yet) so what's wrong with the Aluminum blocks? I've read somewhere else that people use a copper one or nickel for this board ?

pc case gear is overpriced if you asked me, have you checked staticice.com.au?

http://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=Formula+Vi&spos=3

there is a few retailers on there, from differnet states which have the motherboard for $429

otherwise do what i would do, get it from ncix for CA$330, price match it with newegg.ca for CA$315, pay the CA$88 shipping, which is about CA$403, and then convert that to AUD which is about $392.

there you go, you get it about 30 bucks cheaper, and you support ncix!

It's not advisable to mix metal types in a loop.
