Do I need a sound bar that supports Dolby Atmos

Hi, so I am looking for a sound bar for my tv at a price of around £300. Whilst I have been looking at sound bars I have seen some that offer Dolby Atmos and some that don’t. Now I am very confused at the moment as to wether I need the sound bar to be Dolby Atmos compatible. If someone could let me know that would be amazing. Also if anyone does have suggestions for sound bars under £300 also let me know. I am currently looking at the JBL Bar 5.1 Surround if anyone knows if that is good or bad. It doesn’t support Dolby Atmos hence my question on here. 

 

Also I’m not sure if this is useful information but this LG tv is in my kitchen/lounging room so is in a large open plan room.

So to put it differently how much better is it have Dolby Atmos? Like will I notice if I have it or not being in a large room?

Well, let's put it this way: at £300, any soundbar with Atmos is in name only. Only really high end soundbars, usually with satellite speakers, can actually reproduce Atmos audio. If you're not going higher than that in budget, it's a moot point.

Yes, but likely not in a 300 pound bar.
