Hi guys, i've had some troubles with my windows lately, i most say i bought this lap as "second hand" (maybe 4th) and i don't have the windows CD, i used to have the same damn thing from my old Pc but i sold it about a year ago; well, the last of those fails ocurred when i uninstalled something called "7 remix xp" -or something; that was kinda windows 7 / Vista patch for XP, after i uninstalled and rebooted i had this trouble of "iertutil.dll" file missing and maybe more than that (i'm not sure what should be in the system folders) after trying everything i could i fixed it by downloading the file (very stupid, i know) and i feel "explorer.exe" is acting weird and crashing sometimes, so i read that you can actually get this file from other pc running the same OS version.

(if it's not too late) i'd like to get this file from a more trusty source such as one the guys in the forum, so, i anyone has the same OS as me and want to help please bring me this thing so my soul can rest, my actual .dll is much bigger than the others and that makes me really nervous.

My OS: Windows XP Professional 2002 service pack 3

Thanks a lot :)

So you modified system files using some untrusted software, let's forget the fact that you did does against the End User License Agreement, and then remove it, and now you have missing system files?

Sorry, but there isn't much you can do.

You can try if System Restore will cooperate with you, it's iffy in Windows XP, but worth a try. Backup your stuff first, in the case it doesn't end well.

If not, get a Windows XP disk of the appropriate version, genuine, and execute a Windows repair.

If that does not work, then I am afraid there is nothing you can really do, beside re-install, meaning get the Windows XP product key, and get the disk and re-install.

Important notice: Support for Windows XP has completely ended. All further vulnerabilities that are found in the operating system (which is 13 years old) will NOT be fixed, and you will be left vulnerable to attacks. It is highly recommended that you update to a modern OS such as Windows 7, 8.1 or Linux.

Assuming XP works like later versions of Windows, open command prompt while the administrator and type sfc /scannow to scan the operating system for corrupt or missing files.

Yes, that was a very stupid thing what i did, i tried the sfc/scannow command but it didn't work at all at this point i think i will just get a windows cd, or also move to linux (wich is pretty scary for me)
