Wide Open Throttle with a 9600KF

Im getting a 9900K at the end of the month, so I figure why not try to push this thing to the limit while I still have it. I have set up the computer outside the garage, and my CPU core temp hovers around 2-3*F. I also have a large radiator outside that stays very cool, especially in temps like this. I am going to chronical my success (or failure) here for that matter, in terms of overclocking progress.

Initial result (best result on air)

Supposed to be around 0* tonight so it should make for excellent overclocking! Once I have everything in place again, I will report back with more benchmark results.

Not too shabby!

Probably will take more v-core to get over 5.6ghz. 5.8ghz and up would look like closer to 1.6v

Can update your cpu-z revision also, so you can use the validator then.

Know another guy that has the same chip. Reached 5.8ghz with a chiller. Reported v-core was 1.565v.

Another tip I can try and give is to cut down the core count. Try half, 3 cores and see of you can gain frequency, or if just shooting for a max frequency, all the way down to a single core.

Good Luck!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Best result so far. About as high as I want to push it right now.
