Looks like usual shitty compression artifacts.

I was wondering if it is though watching it on my iphone 11 pro max there is no weird black discolouration? Is there a way to improve it ? Or is it youtube that causes this issue

thanks

Could be any/multiple of the following:

Compression artifacts.

Raised black level of the display

Poor near black gamma handling.

(The factory calibration seems to be good however according to rtings)

The work around /fix for all of that is to lower the black level / brightness.

also make sure ur running RGB full in the NVCP.

Now it is a TN panel which means viewing angles are absolute garbage, and the contrast is low, so if ur even slightly off angle stuff like this can be exacerbated.

It is there, the iPhone screen likely just "hide" it better due to it being a better screen with better contrast, darker gamma curve and possibly use at lower screen brightness or higher ambient brightness.

The way to improve it would be to get a better source for the videos, lower the screen brightness or maybe to watch videos with all room lights on.

Also will have hdr enabled make a difference? As it appears if i have hdr enabled through windows i am unable to change the different modes or brightness?

Try selecting different profiles, then enabling HDr see what happens.

Some profiles on most monitors will have options disabled when used.

Same goes for certain features, like VRR or BFI disabling the use of the other.

If HDR consistently disable the ability to tweek other settings that can be used to reduce the visual issue ur experiencing then it will end up being a choice between the 2.

Considering the displays HDR capability isnt great to begin with, unless ur noticing an improvement with it enabled, just disable it.
