Sup everyone!

I just got a i7 12700K and it's my first PC processor, I'd like to know

- What's Overclock and how to use it.

- What's Intel Turbo Boost, What's Intel Alder Lake Turbo 3.0.

- Is worth use Turbo Boost or Overclock? How to use/activate it?

My cooler is: Assassin III (280w TDP).

My processor has 125w TDP (190W Turbo)

In my experience with a 8600K, 9700K, 9900K and now a 12600K, overclocking is not really necessary with 'modern' CPUs. What I mean by this is that you won't get that much of a performance increase unless you are heavily CPU bound in games (assuming that is what you do with your PC). You might see an increase in performance in a CPU benchmark but that's about it. The downside of this extra performance is increased power and heat.

You could try using multi core enhancement (MCE) which applies a certain frequency to all cores (with my motherboard and CPU it is 4.9 Ghz on all cores) This comes with the downside of extra voltage, power draw and of course heat.

Intel Turbo Boost basically runs your CPU at a higher frequency depending on power and temperature. I would leave it on if I were you.

If you still want to overclock your CPU, basically you need to go into the BIOS and increase the voltage and frequency, run a stress test and repeat until you get the highest frequency at the lowest voltage possible. This takes time and effort and although it's not that difficult, it does require a little knowledge of how to change settings (correctly) in the BIOS and how to run a stress test (such as Prime 95). I'm sure if you did a quick search online you'll find a guide of how to do it correctly.
