Mouse Lagging and Freezing

Go to solution Solved by Bombastinator,

Logitech is known for doing weird things with their drivers.  Maybe try disabling the Logitech software and see what happens.  That may have been what you did with the usb hub.   Effectivelhidden the mouse from its driver.

I just made my first computer last week and I'm having a problem where my mouse is lagging and freezing.

the main components are:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor
  • MSI MAG B550M MORTAR WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard

  • 16 GB ram

  • RTX 3070ti

  • Gigabyte M27Q  27.0"   2560 x 1440  170 Hz

The mouse is perfectly fine when i use it one my laptop and it is not the surface that the mouse is on as it is the ltt mouse pad, and so far to fix this issue I have;

  • updated my bios
  • updated my drivers
  • tried a different mouse
  • tried a different usd port
  • reinstalling windows 11
  • turned off enhanced pointer precision
  • changed system files so that enable curser suppression is off

there is also no anti virus software that could be effecting the performance of the mouse

i am currently running windows 11 and was wondering if i should try windows 10 to see if that will help in any way.

could it be that my mouse is to low dpi to display properly on my monitor?

any recommendations are appreciated 🙂

What mouse is it?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

i managed to get the mouse to work properly when connected to a usb hub then to a usb port on the motherboard but the mouse still does not work when just connected to the motherboard or the front IO.

could it be a problem with the motherboard since what ever processing the usb hub in my monitor is doing has fixed this problem, but i would still like to connect my mouse to my motherboard for less latency and better cable management.

Also XMP is disabled should i enable it?
