Build Recommendations

HoldenVII

Budget (including currency): Around £750 ($1000) excluding graphics card

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I will be using it for programming, big data analytics, some 3D modelling and gaming (primarily games like Warzone and Halo).

Other details: Already have all the peripherals I need. Upgrading from a Dell Latitude 7300 Laptop (8th Gen i7). Looking to build in the next month or so.

Hi All,

First time building my own PC and I'm looking for any advice/recommendations on the parts selected for my build (especially the cooler and case).

I already have a GTX 1060 that I'll be using for now until I can get an RTX 3060 for a reasonable price, so the GPU cost doesn't need to currently be included in the budget.

I'm open to any suggestions so please let me know what you think and thanks in advance!

I'm not sure you need an NHD15 you could get away with a cheaper one if you are not over clocking it by alot

Thanks for your advice! Do you have a cooler you recommend?

Wow, thanks for the build! I actually hadn't even considered getting a 12th Gen CPU but seeing that its only £270 for an i5 I'll definitely look into it now.

Thanks for your suggestion! It's interesting you also suggest a 12th gen i5 instead. My budget is fairly flexible and so could happily spend more but also want to get the best value for money. Would it be better value to get an 11th gen i5 with a Z590 or would the performance difference be noticeable enough that it's not worth it?

12th gen will overall be a smoother experience (theoretically) than an other CPU in the market. Average frame rate wise probably not that different, but you will get better frame pacing, timing and 1% lows. This is because all background task can be thrown to the e cores, leaving all the 6 p cores uninterrupted (for the most part) for the game. Intel definitely hitting out of the park this time around. Can't wait to see AMD's response to this though.

I might also recommend getting one without int graphics (KF) as it's ~$50 less and you won't need it if you already have a GPU, but if you will temporarily be without a GPU, get a model with integrated graphics

Hey man,

Congrats on starting your first build too! This thread is actually a post for my list of parts, I think you'll probably get better feedback and find what you need if you start your own thread by clicking 'Start New Topic' at the top of this page.

Good luck!
