So watchingyoutube and scrolling through facebook, my 360mm AIO cooled 5800x hits 55-60c. Even I know thats a bit too toasty!!

How can i get that temp down a little more without increasing the noise level? I have the fans hooked up to the Comander Core that comes with the H150i Eleite capelix cooler im using. fan speed set to balanced and pump speed set to quiet, cos mmm that pump is noisier than i thought XD its a gentle hum/whir noise that i cant quite ignore just yet....almost as annoying as the whine from my NAS box under the desk.

anyway, how can i get idle temps lower without affecting performance or noise?

I read somewhere that the 5800x (for some reason) puts ALL background tasks on a single core, and thats why it runs hot. Is there a way of removing that stupid dumb feature in BIOS or Ryzen Master or somehting similar? Is that even a thing or? I have no idea, this is the most high end PC ive ever owned!

BIOS is the latest from ASRock (P5.0) on a B450 Pro 4 motherboard.

Alright.. well this is probably one of the more commonly asked weekly questions around here in  "Why is my 5800x so hot". Should also be noted that Idle temps aren't important but the reality is we all still like to see those super low numbers. Watching Youtube and scrolling facebook are not considered "idle", however. Idle is sitting at the desktop with nothing open/running and not toucing the mouse.

First of all, Ryzen 5000 is hotter than chips before it and the biggest hurdle to get over when coming from something else is recalibrating your head to what is considered normal and what is considered too hot.

What's very noticeable is that nearly anything you do on the PC is going to cause spikes in temperature and this is something else that's normal.

That being said some tweaking can make a difference

You'll also likely want to look at your cooler. If running the pump on full speed makes too much noise, you may want to look into a different cooler. I know I can't hear my EK 360 AIO and it runs at full speed all the time. I idle at 25-30c and peak after a few runs of CinebenchR23 at 82c while maintaining 4.7Ghz through the benchmark. My only BIOS tweak was a -20 all core offset applied via the curve optimizer talked about in the video I linked.

That's normal behavior for Ryzen 5000 series.

Also, while scrolling Facebook might not sound like much, it's actually surprisingly CPU demanding. The site uses a ton of scripts and is constantly loading new things. Try scrolling Facebook on a Core 2 Duo sometime and you'll quickly realize that what you're describing is far from "idle" for your CPU.
