Hi,

Today I started to look into RAM OC. First thing i noticed: I have a really bad kit of memory (gskill aegis 3000 cl16). I got the frequency up to 3266MHz and then started tightening timings, I know, I now need to test for stabiltiy. Here is my first question: what tool would you recommend to check for stability? Second question: How do I measure the improvement of my OC.
thanks for your help

This should have all the info you need. I would read this a handful of times until you pretty much understand everything.

RAM overclocking is not easy, lots of room for error, and stability needs to be fully tested because RAM errors can present in ways that are extremely hard to diagnose - it’s very difficult to know you have an issue caused by RAM as the issues it causes can look like a software bug, CPU issue, windows issue etc.

If you doing to for performance gains, if all your getting is a few hundred MHz, it may not be worth it due to the potential issues and very, very minor performance gains. If your doing it cuz you enjoy tinkering, sure, just know you may not see any actual gains, and may cause OS and program corruption (Again, RAM issues can cause corruption whereas typically CPU instability will just crash the system).

Read this, follow the steps to test stability, don’t cut corners, and have fun 🙂

I like to use TestMem 5 (TM5) I use the Anta Extreme profile to brutalize my memory.

I also like Linpack Xtreme 1.15, and I use 8GB passes.

To see my gains I like to use Aida64 👍
