I5 8600k processor

Hi guys, I’m currently building my first gaming pc and I got my hands on a I5 8600k processor. My question is, how good is it today? I want to pair it with a 1080/1080ti. Benchmarks say it’s good but people always tell me to not trust benchmarks only.

Games like csgo and stealth games are my stuff, I own the dishonored games und would love to play something like sniper, splinter cell. Also I own a HTC vive and Play Games like Blade and sorcery, Phasmophobia and onward.

For most of those games, the 8600K will do well. It's modern multiplayer titles like Battlefield and Warzone that gives the 6c/6t parts trouble. If you really want to push framerates, you'll want to overclock it, but you shouldn't have stuttering issues in those types of games with a 1080/Ti.

The 8600K, having only 6 cores, will start to show its age especially in games that are able  to utilize more cores/threads. Having said that, it will OC to 4.9/5.0 GHz on all 6 cores and paired with a 1080/Ti you should get reasonable performance out of it.
