with good colors for design work

Pick 2. If you're unwilling, you're going to have compromises. Anything truly professional with all three options is going to be expensive but since "good colors for design work" isn't really an official specification, we have some wiggle room.

Ryzen 7 7800x3D -  Asus RTX4090 TUF OC- Asrock X670E Taichi - 32GB DDR5-6000CL30 - SuperFlower 1000W - Fractal Torrent - Assassin IV - 42" LG C2 - Windows 11 Pro

I guess I should mention, it does not need to be perfect. My current one is really the worst one I ever had, worse than a 17 year old dell. I am upgrading but I don't need to take it to a pro level.

Not bad. 27" is small for 4K so at 100% scaling, things are going to be tiny. Personally, i'm a fan of that but you can increase the display scaling in Windows quite easily.

Agreed. ~40" is about the minimum if you want to have 100% scaling in Windows. With my 32" 4k panel (Aorus FI32U) I have to have scaling set to 125% to be usable, and depending on how good your vision is 150% may be more in line to what you need. If you're gonna be going 27", I'd personally recommend going with a good 1440p panel rather than 4k since then you wouldn't have to deal with any of Windows' scaling buggy-ness.

As others have said 4K is pointless at 27”. 1440p is already pixel dense enough that you won't be able to tell the difference unless you've got your nose to the screen. If you can't go over 27” due to budget constraints, stick to 1440p.

i checked rtings for some 4k 60hz monitor reviews and the LG doesn't make the cut for some very basic specs

the dell 2721QS is recommended instead and is 100usd cheaper

As for scaling i sit very close to a 27inch 4k and use 100% scaling, got used to it, though it wouldnt hurt to be 125%

Since "color accurate" new is just marketing in this price range, you could also just get the best 1440p monitor even if 144hz isn't needed, the colors are better, you are paying alot just for a monitor to be 4k

You should strech your budget a bit more and go for the Gigabyte M28U. It's a great allrounder that basically does everything you'd need it to do. Sould be at around $650.

And no, 4K isn't "pointless" it's still a noticeable step up from 1440p, even at 27". But keep in mind you'll need a strong GPU to actually make use of the monitor in games.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
