My room in my house is on the second floor and the router is in my basement. I use powerline to get internet in my room and I actually I the fastest connection in my house. Here's the problem, I want another ethernet connection in my room for a media server. I was thinking of getting a desktop gigabit switch and having that after the powerline so my computer can be connected to my media center with out having to go back through the 200mbit powerline. Here's my current setup: Modem (Motorola Surfboard extreme) -> Router (Asus Ac66u) -> 200mbit netgear powerline adapter -> my pc (Supports up to gigabit ethernet). I currently get 15 down and 5 up (Which is exactly what I pay for). Would adding a gigabit switch between the powerline and my pc slow me down or increase latency? If so, by how much and what switch do you guys recommend?

Thanks,

David

Space is pretty awesome.
