Is there any concern on putting a single NAS drive in a typical desktop PC?

The HDD I want is on sale but if I buy 2 of them I'll have to pay import taxes which I'd rather not spend money on, so my idea is to buy 1 now and then wait for another sale to complete the setup.

In the meanwhile I'll use old PC components and connect the HDD as well and let my mom use it as her PC until the price drops again.

I know NAS drives are basically normal HDDs with some optimization but they're meant to run 24/7 and in RAID so i'm not 100% sure how good this is

My memory is it just means they are a bit more resistant to certain problems.  No weaknesses added that I know of.

A lot of people won’t read a post like this without specs though and you don’t mention which drive even.  Might be something there someone may notice if the model was mentioned.  Sounds like there are 2(?) PCs involved here.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

So you can use them like normal HDDs...
For a boot device, I would recommend an SSD. Also HDDs make noise because of their movement.

It's my old PCs components (GT730, i3 2120, 4GB RAM) with a WD Red Plus 3TB added to it in this case
