hey guys looking to build a pc for a friend. he wants to edit videos on it around 4k i was wondering what really matters on it i have a ssd and a case for him but what amount of ram,cpu and gpu do you guys think is good? never done a editor build before so any tips would help.

What programs? What footage is being edited?

Probably go with a 12600k, 32gb of ram, cheap z690 board. Id be tempted to use a iGPU for now until you can get a faster gpu.

What video editor? What footage are you working with?

Id use that gpu for now until you can get something like a 3060/3070. 

 

Make sure to leave the igpu on as it is very nice to have for hardware encoding and decoding of video.

 

Or get something like a m1 macmini, will be about the same speed in most appls
