Gaming PC for Minecraft

Go to solution Solved by Cat_Gamer23,

Ok, thank you @Retrokiller543you have been a big help!

Budget (including currency): $800 USD

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Minecraft (Modded and rarely shaders), try newer games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I DO NOT WANT A GPU

https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Cat_Gamer23/saved/XLQHGX

I already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals.

I would like to have some tips and similar on both how to price slightly lower, and if anything isn't compatible/not enough cooling fans etc.

Parts list is private.

Does this mean you already have one, or need to use an APU?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Why is the 5800x so hot?

I apologize for the list being private, I have turned it public.

Also, with the prices currently, and the fact that the CPU has a rather good APU already, (at least for Minecraft), I don't believe I will be able to fit one into my budget. However, if I find a alright GPU that is ~$100 or less (like a 960 or something simple), that would take the strain off the CPU, would be fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find a GPU like that for $100 or less unless it's used.

I stepped you up to a better cooler. That $10 one will struggle with the 10600k. I also changed you from the small SSD and small hard drive to a fairly cheap 1tb m.2 drive. Better cooler, more storage, faster storage for $80 and still well within your budget. About the only other thing I'd maybe change is the case. That one doesn't do well thermally, but you're not going to have super hot components in it.

Any reason for the 10600k over a 5600g?

Mostly the future proofing plus slightly easier to cool and my experience with intel APUs are not all that great, plus slightly cheaper and from what I've seen it can run some AAA games at low settings.

Would recommend the AMD system mentioned by @Retrokiller543 with a different case (H510 has no airflow). If it's just for playing Minecraft you may want to run Linux on it, AMD OpenGL drivers on Linux are so much better than Windows and Minecraft uses OpenGL.

The rest of the budget could be used for something else, maybe a better monitor, or just save it.

As for your original part list, CPU is overpriced, stock cooler would perform better than the cooler listed and case has no airflow.

there are 2 main reasons for not going AMD, 1 being, I'm not familiar, even though I heard good things on their prices. and 2 being that I want fastest core clocks, because Minecraft is mainly a single-threaded game, yes its been better over the past few years, but is still mainly a single-threaded game.

And the main reason for not going for an all SSD storage is its slightly cheaper, and hard drives are a bit more reliable, and recoverable. SSDs have occasionally just given out and as its all NAND flash, not likely recoverable.

The i5-10600K does not come with a cooler, and yes, i do plan to put linux on the 128gb flash drive, and eventually dual boot with windows

AMD Zen 3 gives way better single-thread performance, and the multi core is also really good. core clock isn't everything when it comes to performance.

Here is a quick graph showing the difference in the two (plus many more)

Higher clock doesn't mean faster performance. There are also a lot of different things that will impact CPU performance, such as architecture and cache.

Probably MSI B550M Pro-VDH. About $100, WiFi and good chipset (which results in good upgradeability).

Almost any B550 is good for the price. They all have pci-e 4.0 and more then that you really dont need unless u are RGB crazy. But this ROG strix looks good. Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard. If it's a B550 and it says it has WiFi and the price is good I'd say go for it.

I guess ill go with the asus strix, as it looks a bit nicer than the msi pro-vdh, thank you for both your help.

Also is there any suggestions for a case that looks similar to the NZXT H510 thats black in color with a tempered glass side?

The h510 flow is the same case but mesh front panel, but if it's to expensive i'd say the corsair 4000d airflow is a good bet
