If you can wait then do that. AMD will be releasing new line up soon or you can buy into Intel with their new platform.

it can be very nice to have a own for storage and one for the system/boot. simple swap or restore, or something like that.

Why not then partition it (4TB) differently? Or is is meant as an advantage of being portable?

Yes, as an option.  Portability is nice, bringing a game library over to someone's house that doesn't have fast internet for example.  Have a buddy that lived in the sticks in Texas, he'd drive to a friends to download games, etc.

I split mine, but partitioning is fine if you want to get a single larger drive.

I would suggest going 12th gen instead of ryzen

but if you really feel the desire to go ryzen for some reason, at least wait until Zen 3D comes out, that way you're not completely wasting your money

You know I was reading up on Intel's Alder lake and it looks like it might be at least slightly better than AMD well at least until AMD comes out with the new stuff (I assume it'll be better) but anyways thanks. My goal for my first build is to just have

The best whether that is Intel or AMD I couldn't care less I pledge no alligence to any company. But again thanks I'll be waiting to see what AMD comes out with and decide then. I had no idea when AMD was going to be releasing their new chip

Thanks I don't know why I didn't think of this I'll be doing this and saving myself the couple bucks and using them elsewhere on the build for better parts. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate your help.

Thanks I was wondering when AMD would be releasing their new line. Once it's out I'll be looking into if it's better than Alder Lake if not then I guess I'll be going with intel since Alder Lake seems to be really good but we'll see Thanks I appreciate your help. I'm a newbie at building a of but not totally since I keep up with tech.  Again thanks
