Turning Car Speakers into Home speakers

NoahSheets

Hey guys I have been researching this topic for a while and have not found any useful information. I recently acquired 2 large speaker boxes that were similar to the Fisher ds-826 (google can pull up images). Unfortunately the speakers had been outside for a day and got ruined. I'm wanting to replace the speakers with car speakers since they are inexpensive. Does anyone know how to do this? They have a 3.5 inch tweeter and 4 inch mid and a 12 inch sub. Pease help with any information.

These are the speakers I've chosen to throw in there

There are a TON of DIY speaker videos on Youtube.  Just note impedance is different in home and car speakers usually.

I like this guy a lot...

Might be better sources for speaker drivers:

Parts Express: Speakers, Amplifiers, Audio Parts and Solutions (parts-express.com)

Madisound Speaker Components (madisoundspeakerstore.com)

Some modeling can help if you know your speaker enclosure volume and tuning. Custom passive networks may also be necessary to suit your driver choices.
