Im trying to connect my Xbox 1 controller to my pc using a wire and I’m thinking it should just be as easy as plugging it in. Is there any steps im missing because its not working.

Does it show up in device manager? Do you know for sure your cable does data as well as power?

Are you using a good USB cable? Not all will carry data, some only charge.

Make sure all your usbs are plugged in. If you have an xbox check the controller on that. If it works on the xbox its the connector.

There used to be a specific controller for windows, it was probably just a different driver, Im fairly sure that I bought a windows specific controller but these are the ones related to mine when I plug it in

I would think that if you're on windows 10 the built in Xbox stuff should probably not be disabled and it would pick it up, short of that if you're using the cable it comes with from the Xbox they probably are power only cables I would try one that you know has data transfer like previously mentioned

You can google for Xbox controller drivers and see if that works if using a cable with data transfer doesn't work
