Why does nvidia titan series exist

Nvidia has a geforce gaming line

a quadro workstation line

their a series workstation gpus(like rtx a6000)

then y do they hv titan series

Largely because "why not?" They have a market that will buy them.

Generically speaking: The Titan series fit in the gap between gaming and workstation.
They offer top-tier gaming performance, at a cost that makes it a very poor value proposition, however on the workstation front, they offer a decreased workstation performance platform at a lower level cost.

If you fall in that gap above gaming performance, but below a multi-thousand dollar workstation card, the titan makes sense. work during the day, play games at night.

Titan cards were under Geforce line as the flagship. They removed Geforce name from in on 20 series with a few Quadro stuff added to it (extra color space?), but still remains as consumer flagship.

These are still Quadro. Their third line are the server-oriented Tesla GPUs

Just like AMD Vega 56 or 64 or VII, it offers a decent gaming performance and decent workstation performance, you can say it is jack-of-all trade.

 

Sure hope they bring these cards back, because I don't have to like keep on changing my GPU between work and play.

Creators, like game artists and what not really need the extra VRAM that the Titan line (and now 3090) brings, but don't need the full out features that a Quadro offers. The Titan (and 3090) line offers what they need to do their work efficiently without the 2x-3x price increase.
