SLI bridge?

What SLI bridge do I need for two Quadro FX 4800s? I want to make sure that the bridge I buy is correct. The cards will be adjacent to each other so I believe I need a 3 slot bridge?

Back in the days we had flexible bridges so it really didn't matter if it was 2 or 3 slots apart. That will definitely work.

Wonder why the 4500 and 4600 do support it but not the 4800. 

 

I bet there;s a way to hack the drivers.

OK - turns out the SLI connector is disabled through on the 4800, so I'll be using two 4600s instead. Could mess with enabling it but eh... I'd rather get 2 guaranteed working in SLI cards. Which require the older 9000 series and below SLI.

Why exactly do you want to run SLI? 

There are many cheap single cards out there that perform better.

Yes, I'm aware. However, I'm building a 2008 workstation for older applications (found a nice old Xerox C2Q machine and thought it deserved much better than the NVS 285 it had in it)
