That's less of a GPU than your Titan XP (that said, is this the pre 1080Ti or post 1080Ti GPU). It's more comparable to a 3060Ti than a 3060.

That said, I wouldn't go too much over that, running a 3070 at most.

Hi everyone,

Got a quick question. I currently have a 4.7ghz 5960x J batch (usually bring down to 4.5 for voltage reasons) with 32gb 3000mhz quad channel

I have a titan xp in it, and this is fine for my needs. It's comparable to my 3700x build which was my intention. However, I'm just curious what the gpu upgrade path is with this CPU

Someone said they'd get a 3060, max.

What is everyone else's view?

I have a 1000w corsair power supply so psu won't be an issue.

my thinking is that it's an 8c 16t haswell chip, which shouldn't struggle too much with higher end cards, the ipc is comparable to ryzen 2000 and 3000 with the overclock. There's still a lot of life in it.

before people say I should upgrade cpu, I got the board and cpu for a VERY good price, so figured it build it as a secondary nostalgic build, but I'd like to know its limits. I'm fine with a marginal gpi bottleneck, all but the latest and greatest will bottleneck to some extent.

I play at 1440p 144hz, but I'm considering a 21:9 1440p to drive gpu usage up somewhat

Thanks in advance

Depends whether you're looking for high graphics quality/resolution or high frame rate. My 3080 is not limited at all even at 450W OC... but I'm running 4K  with a 60Hz monitor and push pretty much anything to ultra. If what you want is super high frame rates instead it's probably not the best CPU for that.

Thanks for your response. I have been spoiled by 144hz to be honest, but I'm considering a move back to 60 or 100hz. Being on the bleeding edge of tech is expensive.. I think I'm at the point where a nicer looking image trumps a faster one. I don't play much competitive anymore and most games I play are capped at 60 anyway.

Not sure how the transition back would feel

What sort of fps you getting at 4k with the 5960x and 3080?
