Trying to 'error check' a external drive (Seagate 1 TB), every so often I get a message to close the program (explorer.exe). post-8467-0-34731500-1397247293.png   While checking the disk my RAM soars to about 95 - 99% and I get the above box to close the program. I have 8 GB of RAM.

Uhh don't close it lol. Windows won't work if you close it

It will work you just need to have task manager open so you can click "new task" and type "explorer.exe"

Ran a hitman scan, turned up one toolbar (from chrome I think), mostly tracking cookies, deleted them. Running a second scan of malwarebytes - and nothing detected either time. Full scan of my system via NOD32?

Your "point" is stupid. You have to learn how to word sentences properly.

My point is that Windows is pretty much impossible to use if you disable explorer.exe

How is that a stupid point? He might have closed explorer.exe not knowing what it was, and been very worried.

Don't give me crap because I type English in a way that you don't understand. I didn't mean that windows would physically break.

I'm British, I know what I'm talking about when it comes to English.

Also, you can use it without explorer.exe just fine, task manager, new task, cmd, there ya go, full system control, alt tab to change windows.

Hey.

IIRC you can re-open explorer.exe via task manager.

As stated in a previous post, I already know that.

So why act as it will break everything, if you knew the solution why not give it?

Because it does break windows. And the OP probably didn't know how to open base up explorer.exe

The error message wasn't shown through Task Manager, so he wouldn't of had Task Manager open.

So why not tell him how to do it, say something along the lines of "Make sure you have Task Manager open to re-open explorer.exe"

Because he would just be re-opening the program that caused the problem in the first place! What point is there closing it just to re open it?

This was a problem someone had a while back apparently closing explorer.exe would solve the problem for an hour or 2 while the RAM usage climbs back up, assuming this is the same type of issue closing and reopening it will solve the problem for a bit.
