Upgrade ideas for current build

I've had this build for about 3 years now and I've been wanting to upgrade it, here's the PCPP list of what I run now.

I need some ideas on what parts I should focus on upgrading.

 

No budget set, will still use the system for Gaming, Editing and Programming

Cpu needs to be upgraded, maybe 5600x or 5800x

 

Mb also needs to be upgraded, maybe b550 gaming x (v2) or b550a pro

 

Youll also want to overclock the gpu via msi afterburner

 

Otherwise i dont think anything else has to be upgraded

Never OC'd anything except memory, any good guides for GPU OC?

 

Also for CPU I was thinking of going for a 3700X, good idea or not?

 

And motherboards I was thinking X570 since I'm gonna OC whatever I get

Just go on yt and look for an msi afterburner guide, tbh its just shoving the power limits all the way to the right and seeing how high you can clock your gpu with something that stresses gpu in the background

 

Well since you are gonna need to swap mb anyways maybe consider intel and go for a 10400(f) or 10700(f), abit cheaper than zen 2 and the 10700(f) is sometimes the same price as a 5600x

 

Better chipset =/= better mb (unless you are talking intel), x570 just has a few more features than b550 like all the chipset lanes being gen4 allowing for more than 1 gen4 ssd and dual gpu, just get a b550 if you go amd instead of intel

Just my suggestions since you're gaming, editing and programming, you might as well get 5900X and pair it with X570 motherboard.

I don't know what kind of games you're playing, esports or 3A games?

 

In my opinion the B-series chipset in AMD line-up is the most useless chipset, and since there's the B550, the cost difference between the SAME, I repeat, SAME TIER board (Example B550 Prime vs X570 Prime, or Aorus Pro), is the US$30. This is no longer 5 chipsets, A320, B450, X470, A520 and X570, it's so obvious that B450 vs X570, the price hike is US$70-90 (OF THE SAME TIER), even so, I always play safe, buy the chipset suited for that CPU. In fact, I still encounter old stocks of B450 with lack of 5000 series support, though fortunate for my friend to bought it via retail and allow them to do a BIOS update for him.

 

R5 line-up since day one has always been Skylake/Kaby Lake i5 situation, it's not even a mid-range product as AMD claimed, heck, previous AMD's top ends were US$300 and had a raised in core count, PX4 9600 > P2X6 1090T > FX-8150, it's a low-end part. Anyone buying 5600X in 2021/22 is simply their wasting money on a bottleneck CPU.
