hi my cpu fan is super loud and uncontrolable the stock amd cooler was loud but then i got one that was supposed to be quit and it still was loud. its running at about 2400 rpm and i think the problem has something to do with the voltage but i am not sure and i have tried using the default fan control from the bios but it doesnt change anything and neither does any exteral software. my cpu does keep very cool tho :D

thanks for helping me out!

So, which header is the fan lead plugged into? Is it next to the CMOS battery or next to the DIMM slots? Is it plugged in the correct way? The manual states you should ensure the black(ground) cable matches the connector ground, which I'd assume is marked.

well its plugged in right here and the cable is 4 pin and the connector is 4 pin and there is only one way to plug it in so its correct

Do you have any other 4 pin fans around to plug in and test? Goal here is to determine if it's perhaps a fan issue, or motherboard issue. Plug one into the CPU fan header to avoid the CPU fan error message and plug your cooler fan into the chassis fan header and attempt to adjust speed through that header.

Isn't it rather so that a fan at 2400rpm will be loud as hell, any fan... ?

Nope, ATX fans are 12v. If you were to use a 5v fan at 12v, at best it would burn itself the moment it received 12v. If the problem here is fan speed not increasing with CPU temperature, your issue is with either fan control settings in bios or the fan itself. Check if fan all wires going into the fan are connected on the fan side (not the connector).

On what planet is a 2400rpm fan not loud lmfao.

Different standards of noise, once you get used to silent PCs, you notice maybe? Idk...

honestly I think by buying such a high rpm cooler you exchanged a lemon with a grapefruit...

My Noctua goes from 500 to 700rpm or so and is near silent

(that's when it's not deciding to randomly rattle like a tractor,  i think the fan has a manufacturing defect or something  👀 )

yeah so its just that for some reason i am getting crazy high rpm without being able to control it

Yeap, i got that, what did you try to control it? Did you set a fancurve in bios? Did you apply it? Can you control other fans through bios?

Otherwise you may try fancontrol.

The board controls the fan based off cpu temps.

Yup, but it doesn't work on some boards (mine only started working after several bios updates, thanks msi!)

ok so i just tried switching my cpu fan to my chasiss fan port and it got significantly silenter but still ran at the max rpm of the chassis fan port

and when i just booted it showed me the american megatrend screen with the quote "cpu fan error" but i think thats because my cpu fan wasnt in the correct port

I have the same board as OP, just not the same cpu though. Didn't have any problems with it.

There isn't any software outside the board manufacturer to control the fan.

You can try F6 in bios. Can raise max temp threshold only to 75c.

ok and ill check and see if there are any bios updates
