Voltage of most GPU fans

da na

What is the voltage of most GPU fans? I am adding a fan to an overheating passive MSI GT 210 but since the fan cost more than the card I'd rather not blow it immediately. The fan is one for a Raspberry Pi I had lying around that is 5v .1a. Even though it is a passive card it has a fan header on the board and shows a fan speed reading, although incorrect, in HWiNFO. It just takes a 2pin fan and the fan itself is not pwm but it is dynamically controlled. Will this fan I have work?

Thanks!

Yea itll prob work just with the caveat of wrong fan speeds being read, you sure thats gonna cool that 210 with the hot exhaust of your p4?

Well if it doesnt work you may wanna try redirecting your p4 exhaust

I can't quite redirect the exhaust. It's that there's not quite enough airflow across the card at all, and it just hits a solid wall.

Usually 12V.
That being said I'd run FurMark, let the card get hot and then attach multimeter probes on the headers to check the voltage.

Here is a replacement fan for an actively cooled GT 220 / GTS 210:
