Macmini+ve228 display and project problem

Okay, so my school uses mac mini's attached to a ve228 asus display through hdmi, they use the other display option to convert it to a vga and the vga goes into a wire line through the wall into the projector port, but it says "not supported" or "no signal" when we attach the cablesto the projector, the projector projects, but only saying what I said it said before. We know its not the cables because it works with the macbook's but we want it to work on the mac mini. It used to work up until a couple days ago.

I'm not too sure how the Mac OSX does it, but make sure you enable mirror mode or projector mode? May be that its only using the main display and not considering the other.
