Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3 3600mhz Support?

Gigabyte AB350-GAMING 3 (Socket AM4/B350/DDR4/S-ATA 600/ATX)
Corsair RM 750 (2021)
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Desktop CPU - AM4
ASUS GeForce DUAL-GTX1060-O6G 6 GB Graphics Card
Corsair CMK16GX4M2A2400C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 2400 MHz C16 XMP 2.0
Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB 2.5 inch Solid State Drive

Western Digital WD10EZEX 1 TB PC Hard Drive

I have ordered a new proccesor for upgrade and struggle to get XMP to hit higher clock speeds while remaining stable.

So I am looking at upgrading memory to 3600 and 32gb from 2400mhz modules however the support list on the website doesn't state anything and is from back in 2018.

https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Memory/mb_memory_ab350-gaming3_raven_20181220.pdf?v=f23b84fc228dce261e8d685124c2d407

I wouldn't personally run the XMP at 3600 however it's mostly to future proof the build.

Would these ram modules be supported if I was to install it?

What processor are you upgrading to???

1000 and 2000 series Ryzen processors are very picky about RAM and tend to have weaker IMCs, so enabling XMP above the supported speeds AMD specced may or may not be a struggle to hit.

@CommanderAlexI am upgrading to 3800x. Just updated BIOS to support it & have been testing XMP profiles going up to 3000mhz.

Unfortunatly I have some application crashes when I try OC FYI voltage is about 1.35.

But the MOBO itself does support up to 3200mhz (as per their support PDF specifies) so I wouldn't think have RAM that supports 3600mhz would be an issue if I kept the XMP at 3200mhz

This is not really a great motherboard to be putting a 3800X into. You'll have to go to a B450/B550 motherboard, preferably the latter.

@CommanderAlexYou're probably right with what you say. I am ultimately kind of re-thinking my decision on this. I was looking at the 5600x & a new motherboard

I found this one and saved for later

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-MPG-B550-GAMING-EDGE/dp/B08B4THL9P/ref=rvi_27/260-2512273-1552939?pd_rd_w=Lt8vJ&pf_rd_p=1aa0e3c6-d03f-4cfa-9040-27eac2789751&pf_rd_r=PDVRD893SXKAQDF6HMSW&pd_rd_r=6d26cb90-fd73-4dfe-b860-c1861524df47&pd_rd_wg=05RKi&pd_rd_i=B08B4THL9P&th=1

My thinking though is that I didn't really need to update the motherboard if this current one supports 3rd Gen ryzen and I do the motherboard upgrade later. I didn't necessarily want to have basically a new build hence why I was testing the XMP profiles at higher clocks.

I had been juggling with the idea of basically 5600x and this mobo for a while. Seems like that might be the best option here

That motherboard is a good option to pair with with 5600X. Just because a motherboard supports it does not necessarily mean you should use it. I wouldn't want to pair a 5950X with an A series motherboard unless you want to blow something up.

Ok thanks for the help. I cancelled the order on 3800x and going to order the ram I suggested as well as 5600x & B550 Motherboard.

Didn't really wan't a new build and now spending 3x what I wanted to but now I have some spare parts to salvage for a backup PC / server (Probably end up being a Linux box), plus having the bluetooth is a massive bonus as I don't have a PCI card only a dongle which is the worst thing imaginable lol.
