Portable Display

Sorry if this way of communication is wrong but this seamed the best decent option to ask my question. 

 

So I am actually looking for something like a portable display (with r without a keyboard). So I like to use my laptop on my bed to occasionally browse, use it to fill forms, do some basic work or mostly movies. Now this is getting old o was thinking to get a new one. But I have also moved in a new house and was planning to get a desktop which I will be keeping in the basement to connect to my TV in the living room main floor. So I was wondering if there's any product out there in the market which uses the desktop as the brain and with some type of cable can connect to that portable screen for my viewing experience on the first floor. It will have to be like a 15 inch mini portable TV screen to say so. Also a keyboard connected or can be connected will be great. I just hope someone has an answer. BTW I am from Edmonton.

I'm so confused

 

What does the laptop have to do with this? Why do you need a "portable display" to display your desktop on your TV on the other floor?
