I have a fully functional Xbox Original (Matrix Edition) with 2 controllers that I hold very dear to me. The disk tray works, the controllers have some drift but otherwise are fine but that brings me to the problem. The hard drive is clicking and I’m not sure if there is anyone who will help me out in getting it replaced with all the data from the original device. My #1 goal is to preserve the life of this device as long as possible. I’ve worked on devices before but the unique challenges of this Xbox (mainly the internal power supply) makes me uncomfortable in repairing it myself. Please if you know anyone who would work on this device and care for it with expertise tell me. If you have suggestions on where to get advice or where to go I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

P.S. If anyone from LTT sees this and is interested in making a video on this device I’d pay for the repair in full and send it over with the controllers and a game to make a video on as well. This also applies to data recovery companies with the exception of sending the controllers and a game (unless for testing after repair). < removed by moderation >

you need an entire replacement xbox

the original xbox has drives that are locked to each board. if the drive dies and you didnt already softmod or backup the drive then that data is gone. buy another working xbox and replace the insides. Also go to actual OG xbox foprums for help with an xbox as nobody here really delves into classic console modding

@CanadianCrafter, your email has been removed from the post. It is not generally adviced to post your contact details on the internet. Thats one sure way to get spam, or worse.

If you want to make video suggestion to LMG, you can do it here:

Do note that LMG is media production company, their business is not to buy or repair just any machine that is old or rare, only the ones that they think could make good video content.
