"This PC must support secure boot"

Go to solution Solved by GuiltySpark_,

Follow this to check if your disk is MBR or GPT. If its MBR, you're going to need to convert it before you can update.

Or just do a clean install.

Hey everyone,

I'm having issues upgrading to W11. I figured out how to turn on TPM2.0, but now I still have this "PC must support secure boot" prompt.

My computer seems to be in "legacy" bios mode and I need to switch to UEFI?

I've looked into it from what Microsoft showed me, but I'm still really confused how to do it safely. I saw a couple posts on Reddit from people with my MB and they say their computer wont turn back on.

I have an Aorus x570 Elite Wifi motherboard and not sure why it's not already setup this way by default?

Any help would be appreciated.

A quick note: I'm not sure in your case never used Gigabyte BIOS but you can check if they have a BIOS update with the Windows 11 things enabled by default. I know Asus did so maybe Gigabyte did too.

No luck. My BIOS is update to date.

It does turn on TPM 2.0 from what I've seen, but doesn't seem to do anything for this secure boot issue.

You need to enable uefi not legacy. Then there should be an option for secure boot. Before doing that, ensure your boot drive is gpt not mbr.

If you have the OS installed on a MBR drive and then change it to GPT your PC may nott boot and you will need to re-install the OS onto the GPT drive.

You could install Windows 11 in a Virtual machine if you want to try it out, or I myself am running Windows 11 on legacy machines using a hack.
