I currently run a pc with a 3060 ti, i5-8600k plugged into my old Asus Prime b360m-a. But my cpu doesn't really keep up with my gpu as I have like 100% usage in all modern games (Bf2042, cyberpunk etc). So I was thinking of upgrading to a i7-9700k. But some suggested that I upgrade my motherboard too, is that something I should consider? If so, what 'CPU + Motherboard' combo should I go with? I saw this upgrade kit with an i5-11600k + Prime Z590P for 450$. Something worth considering?

I'm guessing you're gaming at 1080p?

If you want to upgrade, I'd actually go Ryzen. A 5600X and a B550 board will run you about the same as that 11600K upgrade, but at least with Ryzen you again have a future upgrade path to a 5900X or 5950X. With Intel, you can just go to the 8 core 11700K, which isn't as much of an improvement over the 11600K, or the 10900K, which loses you PCIe Gen 4 support.

Yup 1080p. But that's sadly also just a much more expensive route... I was thinking the same if I were to upgrade both. But doing that with a Ryzen 5 3600. Wouldn't that with like a Asus Tuf or MSI Mag B550 work? or a 5600X + B450

I had similar problems at 1080p with my 9600K and RTX 2060 Super. I originally fixed it by upgrading to a 1440p monitor so I became GPU bound.

There's actually a 5600X + MSI B550-A Pro bundle on Amazon right now for $450: https://smile.amazon.com/Desktop-Processor-12-Thread-Unlocked-Motherboard/dp/B099ZJ11CP/

I'd just reduce some of the more CPU intensive settings for the time being, or just live with it for a little while longer.

Alder Lake is coming soon (a month or so) and it is reported to be excellent. Even if it's not, it will probably shake things up with prices on other parts along with Black Friday on the horizon.

i5-14600KF // 120x38MM Cooler Master AIO // B760i // 64GB DDR5 6000 // PNY RTX 5070 // Cooler Master NCORE 100 Max // Cooler Master V SFX-850 Gold // UWQHD AOC Display

That could also be an option, upgrading to 1440p monitor...

Looks nice, but sadly I'm in sweden so amazon.se is it for me (and amazon.se doesn't seem to have that bundle)
