Straightening Cable Mod cables.

Go to solution Solved by IPD,

Usually you'd have to inverse the bend in order to remove it

Dk if this is the right board, sorry if not.

Gonna rebuild my PC this weekend and got some Cable Mod cables for it.

Thing is that they are weirdly bent and misshapen from being in the packaging for such a long time and some bending, even forcefully straightening them with weights overnight didnt fix it.

Looks kinda weird and would be nicer if it wasnt there

Any recommendations?

tape it straight to a stiff piece of cardboard / board and then hit it with a hair dryer to warm it up a decent bit.

After it cools, it should be much straighter.

gonna try this if need be, might be good for the 24 pin one, thanks

Heat is usually how you would form wires. Particularly if just bending them doesn't get you the results you are looking for. You heat them up good, shape, and let them cool back down. Careful though as the white will show burn marks easily if you get them too warm. The warmer the better though, within reason. Keep them in formed while letting them cool down.

You can also use current to heat them up. However generally this isn't real easy to do with something like an 8 pin or 24 pin wire set as you need to flow current through all the wires to heat them all up.

IIRC LTT recently used heat to coil some wires in their custom USB cable video?
