Budget (including currency): at the most 5000$AU

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: most fps games, beamng ultra 1440p

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I do not need a monitor as I already have one and I really want this build to be future proof and last for the next 5 years apart from the ram which I will upgrade to 32 gb and I cant wait for ryzen 6000

btw I am getting the ram and cpu from a friend

the only problem is (well its not really a problem) that I am 1000$ under budget and dont know where to spend it

I would suggest a better airflow case, I seem to recall a mesh version being released for the one you have selected, which would be the better variant to use. I would guess that a different AIO would also be preferable, but it is not a deal breaker.

PSU doesn't seem to have a good review on the tier list (https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list/) so maybe also look into that.

Current system. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X; MoBo: Gigabyte X570S Aorus Master; RAM: 2x Crucial Ballistix MAX 2x8 GB (BLM2K8G40C18U4B); GPU: RX 6900 XT Gigabyte Aorus Master; case: Fractal Design Meshify-2; Storage: Samsung 980PRO 1TB NVMe SSD + 2x Samsung 980 1TB NVMe SSD; PSU: Seasonic Focus GX-850; Cooling: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360.

If you could find CL16 vs CL18 RAM at 3600 frequency that may be another little bit.

Did you consider going 3080 for the GPU? It may be competetive in price and 1440 rasterisation performance while offering RT, higher res gaming and so on.

yes I did, but there is only 1 model of the 3080 that is cheaper than the 6900xt but it is an ugly pny design that I dont like and also I chose the 6900xt because ray tracing and dlss arent essentials in my eyes, and isn't the 6900xt better than the 3080 anyways.

It has the edge in normal resolution (1080-1440p) traditional rasterisation graphics in my understanding. So if that is what you are going for and if the price is right - nice!

I just wanted to present all the options that you may have missed, but apparently you didn't 🙂

I'm pretty sure Ryzen 6000 series is coming in q4 2022-q1 2023 (just like intel 5 lol), so for the next year or so, intel 12th gen will be the best choice (it's coming out in around a month), and if you want to wait that extra time intel 5 will be out

future proofing isn't really a thing, best you can do is get to a point where it doesn't matter (able to run the games you want at max settings at above your monitor's refresh rate)

here's my suggestions

Sabrent Rocket instead of WD SN 750

3080/3080ti instead of 6900XT (3080ti is a pretty significant bit better)

your psu will be mildly tight, but you can prob slip with 850W

I think Noctua's NH-D15 is better than most, if not all modern AIOs

ig if you have $1000 extra you could get a better monitor/mouse, then again, up to you

I had no idea it came out in a month I just hope the availability isnt as sketchy as ryzen 5000 when it came out

Alder Lake is Intel's codename for the 12th-generation of Intel Core processors based on a hybrid architecture utilizing Golden Cove high-performance cores and Gracemont power-efficient cores. Intel expects to launch Alder Lake on November 19th, 2021.

it's also 10nm (which is like 5-7nm in AMD), and seems to be pretty significantly better for everything that isn't just "more cores, more better", like rendering, and the 5800x only has 8 cores, while intel 12th gen has 8 performance AND 8 efficiency (in other words, worse than 16+ core ryzen models like 5950x for rendering, but better than anything else)

Efficiency cores are not multithreading so you are getting 12 threads (or 5900X equivalent), with the standard caveats about threads/cores/frequency not being everything applying.

Current system. pretty sure the 12th gen intel cores are faster than 5900x cores though, so essentially it beats amd in everything except rendering

When you compare threads then it is 24 more or less uniform threads (chiplets can vary in performance) vs 16 performance and 8 efficiency threads. So to me it is not entirely clear how this would turn out.

While I would expect the new generation intel to beat old generation AMD I would really like to see the full benchmarks first.

I would go with a 2TB SN750 instead of the 500GB SN750 and 2TB SN550. Other drives you can consider with similar performance:

Silicon Power UD70

Silicon Power A80

Samsung 970 EVO Plus

Mushkin Pilot-E

I would also go with 32 GB of ram since your build is more on the premium side. I would only go with 16 GB if you have a tight budget.

Be prepared for the pains of coordinating all the RGB.

Otherwise good luck!

Nothing is wrong, just that wiring all the RGB and doing all the settings is gonna take some time and effort.
