So i have this Gigabyte Sabre 15  laptop i bought in 2017. The spec are as below:

i7 7700hq

gtx 1060

16GB 2333 DDR4 ram

128 GB SSD + 1TB HDD

It's an old laptop i use every day for the last 4 years for mostly gaming. I can game at least 3/4 hours a day using this, every day after i am back from work. I noticed the last 2 month, this laptop unable to handle its heat properly, making even idle temps high. I have done :

1. Cleaned the inside, vents, and fans of the laptop

2. Reapplying thermal paste on both cpu and gpu

3. Undervolt my CPU, tried to underclock/undervolt my GPU but this is laptop we're talking about, voltage control are locked and i cant do anything with it.

4. Tried multiple GPU drivers. Didnt work. I revert back to factory shipped driver for now ( I found some game crash using newer driver , dont know why )

5. Cooling pad + lifting the laptop barely do anything

None of the things i did above solve this issue. I am not asking for the laptop to be 70 degree under heavy load. I am just asking for it to be at least not throttling.

i am at my wits end. I can still fire up RDR2, TW:WH2, Squad no problem. But it will start throttling, 5-10 minutes into the game. For context, i live in a tropical country, where the room temp can reach 34 degree in the middle of the day, but i play in a AC controlled room. I am really hoping i can hold on to this laptop for another year cause most laptop i want is unavailable anywhere

Thank you

Try fps limiter, many modern games are released with bugs that can even destroy hardware. Running game at lower resolution can help further. Or just stick to time tested games that run well.

Thanks for the reply, but sadly those options dont help at all. As for the game, i played listed game with no problem before, the problem showed up in the last couple month. I can even play more modest game like genshin while streaming it to my friend using discord. Thanks for the suggestion tho
