I'm planning on getting Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pros 250 Ohm, but I have no idea what amp or dac I should get. I'm not looking for something super duper high end, I'm looking for something basic and will power the headphones properly. Or if I should get a different pair of headphones like the Sennheiser HD 600s, I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Do you really need one? Just use them.
Max the volume. If they are too quiet, get an amp.
If you hear too much noise, get an external DAC.

i used the Magni Heresy with the hd 6xx and is a really good amp for that price, you should consider buying the hd6xx is like 40 bucks more but i think is a better headphone,

and the jds atom is another good option but i prefer the magni.

If you need the 250 ohm version then I would recommend getting a amp but there are 80 ohm versions of the DT 990 which (personal) I feel would be a lot more convenient because then you can pretty much use it with anything and you wouldn’t have to use an amp
