AT2020 question?

So I noticed there are 2 version an XLR version and a USB version so my question is if I buy the cheaper XLR version and get a converter would it sound a like or is the USB version better audio quality wise?

I would just personally get the USB version

 

the XLR version is only beneficial if being hooked up to a mixer

The USB has an XLR interface built in. The XLR version requires an external interface to be used with computers and by the time you have an interface and the mic, along with all the cables, mounts etc you would be better off just using the USB version.

Oh do that then I thought the USB version would have been cheaper

 

strange normally the USB versions are cheaper, I bought the blue yeti USB because the XLR version was way more expensive

I'd always go for the XLR version, then get an XLR-USB cable or a USB soundcard with XLR inputs. Gives loads more options for the future.

I not 100% sure about that cable you are looking at, but most xlr based condensor mics usually need some sort of phantom power for them to work. That cable doesn't look it will be able to provide that phantom power required.
