Hello,

I'm just got my first pc built for me by a friend, and in the process of selecting parts I opted for 3600mhz ram after reading motherboard reviews saying that the mobo would allow it. It was only after the pc was built that I realized that running the ram at its advertised speed of 3600mhz would be considered overclocking and void all warranties. I have a ryzen 5600x cpu and a b550 tomahawk motherboard. Does running the ram in xmp really put your system at any risk or am I worried for no reason?

Any insight would be great.

Sure, you can enable DOCP/XMP but manually set the DRAM frequency to 3200mt/s which would be the max you can set without voiding a warranty. Which they have no way to really prove you overclocked, so that part doesn't really matter much. So if it's stable at 3600mt/s, just use it and enjoy.

No. DOCP/XMP does not put the system at risk.
Know that some sticks of memory, such as the Corsair Vengence LPX, have been known to not reach their rated speeds.

When you say "if it's stable", what would indicate a lack of stability? Would I get blue screens and random shut downs if it was not stable?

Yes, if your memory is not stable it can lead to problems in programs that could lead to crashing of either the entire OS, or just the program.
Depends on the program / the severity of the instability.
