But i dont have fiibre broadband in the UK. (avg. download 11mb)

i have standard broadband

so is there any point in gettng the gigabit (black) one. Or is there?

gigabit would be just for your local network. Connection to your ISP and internet (via your router/modem) would still be limited according to your ISP plan.

If your network card supports gigabit, get gigabit. It is like 5 bucks difference in this case.
You will feel the speed difference when transfering files on your local network between devices(12,5 MB/s vs.125MB/s) such as PCs, NAS, etc.
Even if You do not need to transfer anything, gigabit would be more "futureproof" (I use " " because gigabit is getting outed by 2,5Gbit today) if you ever decide to get faster internet plan.

Ofc if you still think that 100Mbps is enough for you, then get that. Completely up to You.

Don't buy 100 mbps switches in 2021. Get 1 gbps switches, the price difference is very small so it's not worth to go for the cheapest 100 mbps switches.

You can get them from Amazon.co.uk for around 10 pounds. Maybe 2-3 pounds shipping, I don't know..

10 GBP 5 port 1 gbps switch : https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-SG1005D-Desktop-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B00ZOOJXEG/

12.70 5 port 1 gbps switch in METAL case : https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-SG105S-Ethernet-Lifetime-Warranty/dp/B07HP5TN4S/

9.99 GBP 5 port 1gbps switch : https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-LS1005G-Wallmount-Ethernet-Splitter/dp/B07VWB347G/

11.48 GBP 5 port 1 gbps switch : https://www.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-GS205-100UKS-Gigabit-Ethernet-Desktop/dp/B00AYRZYG4/

The ones in metal case are in theory better quality.

I don't know why you're squabbling over these miniscule price differences but one has a metal case?

Its not the prices im concerned about. They are the same price.

Just performance wise. which is better.

Or is the steel just better above all

I'd go for the one in metal case, but simply because it has the power jack in the back and not on the side.

These switches don't generate that much heat, so the metal case isn't really needed for extra cooling or something like that, and the switches are basically empty inside.

They all are more or less one chip with a bit of memory and a voltage regulator, the performance between these switches is pretty much the same.

Don't buy a plastic case.  Plastic is bad for the environment and metal cases are much more robust.  They are also much nicer.

Better get 8 ports instead of only 5.  Don't buy a 100Mbit switch unless you have special reason to.

Never buy a managed switch from tplink; they suck and their support isn't any better.  The unmanaged ones are a very good deal for the money.
