I'm thinking of upgrading my storage

Swapping from an SSD to an HDD is a terrible idea. If you need more storage, get an HDD and use both.

Edit: if this is a laptop that only has room for 1 drive, You'll want to pony up and buy a 1TB (or larger) SSD. Don't do yourself the disservice of booting off an HDD.

So I'm thinking of upgrading my 500gb ssd to a 1tb hhd and was wondering if it's a good idea?

HHD(that I'm wondering if I should upgrade to) - Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 7200 RPM  64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

I've got an 250gb m.2 SSD to boot off and for miscellaneous storage, I'm just looking for something to use as mass storage instead of or with my 500 gb ssd.

I know you marked this thread as "solved," but I have a few more thoughts for you.

If you already have a fast boot drive, it's more or less up to your personal needs and budget. In your case, keeping the 250GB as a boot/program drive, and getting a 1 (or 2) TB HDD for bulk storage would be an ok plan. Personally, I would then use the 500GB SSD for strictly a game drive. Your load times will be great compared to putting them on an HDD, but they won't take up valuable space on your boot drive. Plus, the games will then become portable if you ever need to move them to another PC.
